Welcome to the Instonians Website
Monday, 16 November 2009 17:05

Welcome to our new website, we hope that we can bring a dynamic view of what is happening at the club both on and off the field and provide a flavour of what it is to be an Instonian, our past glories our current strengths and what we know will be future successes.

Instonians is unique in sport in Ireland in that we have senior teams competing in three major sports disciplines in an All Ireland context.

  • Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Hockey

As well as the senior sides we field 2nd,3rd,4th and sometimes 5th teams in the three sports all playing in their various leagues and cup competitions.

The next generation is not forgotten, we run coaching courses at mini, junior and youth levels as well as fielding age group teams.

The home of Instonians is Shaw’s Bridge Sports Grounds, which must be one of the finest sports facilities in Ireland, with 4 Rugby pitches, 2 cricket squares and an international quality hockey pitch.

Nestling in the wooded banks of the river Lagan it is the perfect place to watch quality sport being played at the top level summer and winter.

All Instonians pride themselves for their competitive spirit and will to win, however when we pull on the Black, Yellow & Purple, we are honour bound to forward the ideals of those who founded the club, sportsmanship, friendship, team spirit and a determination to be the best.

To date this year has already been outstanding, the successes of the Cricket Club with the 1stXI winning NCU Senior Cup as well as sharing top place in The Premier League and the 2nd XI  winning  The Intermediate Cup and their section in The Junior League, have set the tone for the rest of the Clubs.

To date both the Rugby and Hockey 1st teams are currently well placed in their leagues and looking build on their early successes as the season progresses.

We hope the new site is ‘user friendly’ and easy to navigate, constructive comments are always welcome.

If you have any archive material photos etc. please feel free to send in. Any special articles, memories or ‘Tall Tales’ would be welcome.
